Black clouds cover the sky, and a sudden downpour lashes the bridge. Hiroshige's masterpiece, "One Hundred Famous Views of Edo: A Thunderstorm on Oohashi Bridge and Atake," captures a moment in time where it seems as if time has stopped. The slanting rain, the people hastily crossing the river with umbrellas in hand, the misty surface of the river in the distance—every depiction is full of life.

Only Hiroshige could portray the fleeting natural phenomenon of rain with such poetic realism. The sound of the rain and the chill of the wind are conveyed, and the viewer's heart feels moistened as they gaze upon it. This is an Edo evening scene brimming with emotion, as the rain eventually clears and a rainbow seems to form.
